In alignment with our holistic approach, we proudly offer metal-free dental implants. Zirconia implants were introduced into dental implanting as an alternative to titanium implants. We know that not all patients are comfortable with the idea of metal implants as their tooth replacement option, so we offer a holistic approach to dental care.
Patients who have allergies, compromised immune systems or skin sensitivities to metal might not realize it until a long time after their implantation procedure. Whether due to a metal-allergy, sensitivity, a desire for a natural material and/or purely for aesthetics, we provide zirconia metal-free implants as a treatment option to our patients.
The Zirconia dental implants (the material Zirconium Dioxide (ZrO2) or more commonly zirconia) is a naturally occurring, metal-free, highly biocompatible and non-corrosive ceramic that is used in the spaceships because of its high resistance to fracture and heat. It promotes complete osseointegration (completely integrates into jaw bone) and doesn’t provide inflammation because is non-reactive, hypoallergenic and bioinert. As a bioinert material, it will never trigger chemical reactions, migrate to other sites in the body or interfere with the maintenance of optimal oral health. And since Zirconia Dental Implants are biocompatible, they are the perfect choice for tooth replacement. Metal Free implants will not interfere with the movement of energy through the meridian pathways making them ideal for patients who adhere to holistic health principles and biocompatible medicine. Over the past few decades, zirconia ceramic components have been increasingly incorporated into dentistry to replace their metal counterparts due to zirconia’s clinically proven strength and increased aesthetic. Zirconia implants are popular because they give patients a natural, lasting smile, allowing them to live and eat without holding back.
The fact that zirconia does not conduct an electrical charge is a big benefit. The absence of electrical conductivity of the zirconia ceramic makes it more difficult for bacteria to adhere to the implant surface and thus maintaining the hygiene much simpler. This means it is easier to maintain a healthy gum line and decrease inflammation.
